Sporting Club Jacksonville rallies for late win over Lexington SC

Sporting Club Jacksonville defeated Lexington SC 3-2 on September 5 at Hodges Stadium in a USL Championship match. Ahmad Al Qaq scored the winning goal four minutes into stoppage time to secure the result for Sporting Jax. Kieran Sadlier opened the scoring for the hosts, but Lexington SC took a lead in the second half behind goals from Marcus Epps and Xavier Zengue. Emil Jaaskelainen leveled the score in the 88th minute before Al Qaq clinched the victory. Sporting Jax currently sits at the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings but closed the gap on Birmingham Legion and Brooklyn FC. In other club news, the Sporting Jax women’s team drew 1-1 with DC Power FC at Audi Field on the same day. Maggie Illig scored for Sporting Jax following an assist from Paige Kenton, while Claire Constant netted the goal for DC Power FC.
