Stan Kroenke purchases the Los Angeles Angels from Arte Moreno

Stan Kroenke has finalized the purchase of the Los Angeles Angels, ending the ownership tenure of Arte Moreno. Moreno bought the franchise in 2003, shortly after the club secured its only World Series title in 2002. During his time as owner, the team faced criticism for a lack of postseason success, failing to post a winning record in most seasons since 2014. The franchise also struggled to maximize the careers of high-profile players including Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani, both of whom departed or played during years of team stagnation. Additional challenges under the previous ownership included the acquisition of underperforming veteran players and the failure to renovate Angel Stadium, which remains an outdated facility with a lease extending through 2032. Kroenke assumes control of the franchise as it prepares to move forward under new leadership.
