AEW's Thekla, also known as the Idol Killer, made headlines during an AEW Dynamite segment on June 3 as she declared her definitive break from Stardom, promising to bring an end to the organization. In her promo, she disrespected Stardom's branding, prompting a sharp response from Stardom president Taro Okada, who labeled her actions as vulgar and unforgivable. This storyline precedes a crossover event at Forbidden Door, where Stardom will co-promote with AEW, CMLL, and New Japan. Thekla's current storyline may signify a turning point in her visibility as AEW’s Women's World champion, especially following her title defense at Double or Nothing on May 24.

"Forbidden Door will this year have CMLL and Stardom as co-promoters along with AEW and New Japan for the first time. The 2026 edition will also be the first since former Stardom wrestler Thekla became AEW’s Women’s World champion. The Toxic Spider is currently still basking in her latest successful title defense, a 4Way at Double or Nothing on May 24. But Thekla and her Triangle of Madness sidekicks Skye Blue & Julia Hart made time to stroll onto AEW Dynamite last night (June 3) to start her program for the June 28 PPV. It’s a program which appears to involve the champ and the Sisters of Sin taking on, well, Stardom. After reminding us of her history as the Idol Killer at the joshi (Japanese women’s wrestling) company, Thekla said she’s closing the door to Stardom for good. She doesn’t care if Triangle of Madness needs to go to Japan, or if Stardom talent like Owen Hart Cup tournament entrant Hazuki comes to AEW “I am not declaring war on Stardom. I am declaring death to Stardom,” the AEW champ said before climbing a ladder to spit on on her old company’s logo and flip it off before the segment ends. As she touched on in her promo, this isn’t some new beef. You may recall that Thekla attacked Stardom president Taro Okada before and after her Stardom “firing” last year. Okada reacted to Thekla’s time on Dynamite with a social media post which translated reads: A vulgar, cowardly, and shameful act. Unforgivable. 下品で、卑怯で、恥ずかしい行為。 許せない。 — Taro Okada_岡田太郎 (@tokada_mh4e) June 4, 2026 As exciting as her rise to the title was, Thekla hasn’t really stood out as AEW’s Women’s World champion. Is this the storyline that will turn that around? Let us know what you think, Cagesiders.
