Steelers consider trading Alex Highsmith amid offseason changes

The Pittsburgh Steelers are reportedly weighing a potential trade involving linebacker Alex Highsmith. Following the signing of Nick Herbig to a four-year, $100 million extension, speculation about Highsmith's future has increased. NFL insider Jason La Canfora indicated that teams such as the Washington Commanders, Philadelphia Eagles, Buffalo Bills, and San Francisco 49ers are monitoring Highsmith's situation as the Steelers reevaluate their pass-rush strategy. Highsmith has been a strong performer, with notable statistics including 45 sacks and 10 forced fumbles over his six-season career. The decision to trade him would come as Pittsburgh navigates a stacked roster and shifting schemes.
