Steelers consider trading Alex Highsmith amid salary discussions

Summary

Pittsburgh Steelers defensive end Alex Highsmith is the subject of trade discussions following missed practices and his salary demands. After the Steelers extended Nick Herbig’s contract, which will pay him $25 million per year, speculation grew regarding Highsmith’s future with the team as he seeks a pay raise from his current $17 million salary. Trade interest reportedly includes the San Francisco 49ers, who may be willing to part with a second-round draft pick for Highsmith, whose productivity has been noted with a career-high 14.5 sacks in 2022.
