Steelers explore signing safety Jordan Whitehead as training camp opens

The Pittsburgh Steelers are reportedly in discussions to sign veteran safety Jordan Whitehead, who is a Pittsburgh native and expressed mutual interest in joining the team. Whitehead, a seven-year NFL veteran, did not play in the entire 2025 season due to a severe neck injury from a car accident in 2024. He has started 101 of 105 games in his career, notching 11 interceptions and 557 combined tackles. The Steelers have also signed Jaquan Brisker and retained DeShon Elliott and Jalen Ramsey as part of their safety corps. As training camp commenced at St. Vincent College on July 29, 2026, discussions regarding Whitehead’s possible deal are expected to develop further.
