Steelers face uncertainty with Joey Porter Jr. after Patriots' contract move

Summary

The Pittsburgh Steelers are facing challenges regarding Joey Porter Jr.'s contract following the New England Patriots' offer to Christian Gonzalez. The Patriots reportedly proposed a deal making Gonzalez the highest-paid cornerback, surpassing the current top salary of $31 million held by Trent McDuffie. As the cornerback market is poised to increase, the Steelers may see Porter's extension demands rise. Porter has established himself as a leading cornerback in man coverage, but the Steelers have delayed extending his contract this offseason. The situation echoes their previous experience with T.J. Watt in 2025, where delay led to complications.
