Steelers release backup kicker Laith Marjan after preseason loss

The Pittsburgh Steelers announced on Sunday the release of backup kicker Laith Marjan. Marjan missed a 44-yard field goal in Friday's 17-0 preseason loss against the New York Jets and had an unimpressive performance at training camp. Signed as an unrestricted free agent, Marjan previously had a strong season in Kansas, making all extra points and 14 of 17 field goals. The Steelers continue their preseason as they evaluate their roster ahead of the regular season.
