Steelers sign WR Cornell Powell ahead of preseason game

The Pittsburgh Steelers have signed wide receiver Cornell Powell as training camp continues this week. Powell, who previously played for the Kansas City Chiefs, joins the Steelers alongside Isaiah Winstead while Colton Dowell has been waived. Powell recorded 882 receiving yards and seven touchdowns during his final college season at Clemson before being drafted in 2021. He has spent limited time in the NFL, mainly on special teams, and briefly joined the Steelers’ practice squad in 2025. The Steelers will play their first preseason game against the Green Bay Packers on Thursday at 7 p.m. EST.
