Stefanos Tsitsipas backs Ben Shelton for US Open title success

Stefanos Tsitsipas has identified Ben Shelton as his preferred winner of the US Open. Tsitsipas exited the tournament in the fourth round after a loss to Shelton, marking the Greek player's deepest run at the event to date. During an interview in New York, Tsitsipas stated he supports the American player's bid for the title. Shelton, who advanced to the semi-finals by defeating Carlos Alcaraz, is scheduled to face Frances Tiafoe next. Following this appearance, Tsitsipas intends to rejoin the tour for the Davis Cup tie for Greece against Slovakia on September 19-20. He will subsequently participate in the Shanghai Masters as he attempts to improve his ATP ranking following his rise into the top 50.
