Stephen Curry documentary Portrait of an Artist hits IMAX theaters in October

Director Gotham Chopra is releasing a documentary film about Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry titled Portrait of an Artist on October 9. The film features footage captured during a March 2025 game against the Sacramento Kings at Chase Center, a night when Curry approached the milestone of 4,000 career 3-pointers. Despite a challenging performance from Curry during that specific contest, filmmakers chose to focus on the struggle of the creation process rather than highlights alone. The project includes insights from various creative figures including Viola Davis, Rick Rubin, and Christopher Nolan. Curry, who is entering his 18th season, collaborated on the film through his media company alongside the Religion of Sports production team. The documentary attempts to define the basketball star through an artistic lens rather than a traditional sports profile.
