Stevenage sign midfielder Matt Smith on a free transfer

Stevenage have signed midfielder Matt Smith on a contract of undisclosed length. The 25-year-old joined the club as a free agent following the expiration of his contract with Wigan Athletic this summer. Smith brings extensive experience to the squad, having recorded 159 appearances in League One throughout his career. His previous clubs include Doncaster Rovers, Charlton Athletic, and Swindon Town. Although he is a product of the Arsenal academy, Smith did not make a senior appearance for the Gunners. The signing adds further depth to the Stevenage midfield as the season continues.
