Study finds at least 25% of deceased NFL players had CTE

A recent study found that at least 25% of former NFL players who died between 2016 and 2021 had chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE). The study, led by Dr. Daniel Daneshvar of Mass General Brigham, analyzed brain samples from the UNITE Brain Bank at Boston University. It involved testing the brains of 235 out of the 878 players who died during that period, with CTE identified in 215 of them. Researchers suggest that the actual percentage of players with CTE may be higher, as it does not include all deceased players. The NFLPA plans to meet with medical experts in coming weeks to discuss CTE and address player concerns.
