Summer McIntosh fails to qualify for 400m free final at Pan Pacs

World record-holder Summer McIntosh did not qualify for the 400m freestyle final at the Pan Pacific Championships in Irvine, California, on August 14. She recorded the ninth-fastest time in the heats with 4:08.56, over 14 seconds slower than her world record. McIntosh previously won the 400m individual medley, breaking the championship record with a time of 4:28.01, but expressed disappointment in that performance as well. Leading the event was Katie Ledecky, who posted a time of 4:03.48, advancing to the final alongside Lani Pallister and others.
