Sunderland signs teenage forward Juan Riquelme Angulo from Independiente del Valle

Sunderland added 18-year-old forward Juan Riquelme Angulo to their squad on the final day of the summer transfer window. The Ecuadorian player joins the club on a five-year contract for a reported fee of £5 million. Moving from Independiente del Valle, Angulo established himself as a prominent young talent in South American football, recently debuting for the Ecuador senior national team. During his final season in Ecuador, he recorded six goals and three assists across 15 league appearances. While the club acknowledges the potential of the 6ft 4in striker, officials noted that he will require a development period at the Academy of Light rather than serving as an immediate high-volume goal scorer. He becomes the latest prospect to emerge from the youth academy at Independiente del Valle.
