Sunderland's Dayann Methalie transfer hopes remain alive after medical issue

Sunderland's pursuit of Toulouse left-back Dayann Methalie is still active following a medical setback. Methalie failed part of his medical exam on August 20, raising concerns about his back. After enduring the disappointment, he has returned to France for further tests. Sunderland remains keen on completing the £25.7m transfer, with their scouting team having pursued him for weeks, even competing against clubs like Newcastle United and Roma. An update from BBC Sport's Nick Barnes indicated that Sunderland still intends to finalize the deal, although it might take longer than expected as they await results from Toulouse's medical staff.
