SUNY Corning Community College opens new athletics study center for student-athletes

SUNY Corning Community College officially opened the Athletics Study Center on Monday, Aug. 31, providing a dedicated academic space for its student-athletes. Located directly below the campus gymnasium, the facility aims to assist athletes in managing their academic and practice schedules. The center includes study areas, a microwave, and a dining space to facilitate collaboration among students from various sports programs. College president Dr. Terence L. Finley, who led the ribbon-cutting ceremony alongside student-athlete Marquis Tubbs, emphasized the importance of academic success alongside athletic competition. Athletic director Isaac Bushey noted that the center will help athletes remain eligible for graduation and support their future transfers to four-year institutions. Coaches will have easier access to monitor student progress as they utilize the space between classes and athletic commitments.
