Suryakumar Yadav praises Shreyas Iyer after T20I captaincy change

Suryakumar Yadav expressed pride in Shreyas Iyer's appointment as India's T20I captain, following his own removal from the role. Yadav, who previously led India to T20 World Cup success, highlighted their shared Mumbai connection during a toss at the Mumbai T20 League. Sources indicate that Yadav’s inconsistent form led selectors to prioritize future planning for the team, which includes upcoming competitions like the 2028 Olympics and T20 World Cup. Iyer's strong performance in recent IPL seasons made him a standout candidate for captaincy. Yadav now faces the challenge of proving himself in domestic cricket to regain his position in the national squad.
