Suspension of ferry service disrupts local sports travel between islands

The suspension of the Islands Unlimited ferry service between Jersey and Guernsey has caused logistical issues for local sports organizations. The MV San Pawl remains out of service until 10 September following a failure to its starboard main engine. Guernsey Cricket reports it has incurred significant extra costs to charter alternative boats to transport teams to Jersey for upcoming fixtures. Similarly, the Guernsey Triathlon Club faced potential travel hurdles for athletes attending the upcoming Granite Weekender. Officials have confirmed that through partnerships with other providers, including Brittany Ferries and Bailiwick Boat Charters, all athletes and equipment are expected to reach the event. Islands Unlimited cited passenger and crew safety for the service cancellation and stated that all affected bookings are eligible for full refunds.
