SV Hamburg receives permission to expand Volkspark stadium capacity

SV Hamburg has secured official permits to increase the seating capacity of Volkspark stadium. The Bundesliga club announced on Tuesday that it plans to raise the venue capacity from 57,000 to more than 60,000 seats. Construction work is scheduled to begin in October. The renovation will occur in phases to avoid interrupting home matches for the club’s men's and women's teams. Initial efforts will focus on Section A near the field, with subsequent work including infrastructure upgrades such as new restroom facilities. The HSV Supporters Trust is financing the expansion project using funds collected from fan contributions.
