Syracuse football adds commitments from Jamel Griffin and Botond Varga

Syracuse football bolstered its 2027 recruiting class with commitments from defensive back Jamel Griffin and offensive lineman Botond Varga on June 9, 2026. Griffin, a three-star recruit from Opelika, Alabama, previously received offers from Kentucky and Tulane, among others. Varga, also rated as a three-star, chose Syracuse over several Power Five programs, including Boston College and Duke. Syracuse now has a total of 18 commitments for its 2027 class, continuing its recruiting momentum as it heads into future seasons. Griffin made 83 tackles in the last season, while Varga is recognized as a top offensive tackle from Massachusetts.
