Syracuse football prepares for 2026 season with wide receiver uncertainties

Summary

Syracuse football is evaluating its wide receiver position ahead of the 2026 season, with significant turnover since last year. The departure of top receivers Johntay Cook II and Darrel Gill Jr. has prompted an influx of transfers like Cole Weaver from Miami (OH) and Matthew Outten from Penn State. Returnees include Justus Ross-Simmons and Umari Hatcher, each seeking to regain form following injuries. Calvin Russell III, a highly touted recruit, is recovering from an Achilles injury but remains a focal point for the team. Syracuse aims to define its depth chart and find a reliable target as the season approaches.
