Tadej Pogačar continued his impressive run at the Spanish Vuelta on Thursday, winning the sixth stage after going off track and nearly crashing on a quick descent. The defending Tour de France champion, seeking a career hat trick of Grand Tour titles, was able to slow down just enough to stay on his bike and return to the road to eventually outlast Enric Mas and secure his third stage victory. The Slovenian from UAE Team Emirates increased his overall lead to 3 minutes, 34 seconds, with Mas of Movistar Team in second place and Primož Roglič dropping to third, more than four minutes behind Pogačar.

Tadej Pogačar survived a scare to take his third Vuelta a Espana stage win in the space of six days and extend his overall advantage on Thursday. Pogačar beat Enric Mas in a two-up sprint into Castello after the pair had crested the final climb of the 177km stage six from Alcossebre together - Mas showing impressive speed to catch Pogačar on the steep gravel road.

The defending Tour de France champion, seeking a sweep of Grand Tour titles, finished Tuesday's tough mountain stage in Andorra 2 minutes, 39 seconds ahead of the chasers. Pogačar opened an overall lead of 3 minutes, 21 seconds over Primoz Roglic, with Enric Mas other 11 seconds behind in the general classification. Pogačar's win, his second at the Vuelta this year, came a day after the third stage was canceled because of hail near the end of the route in France.
