Tampa Bay Buccaneers release quarterback Jake Browning

Summary

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are releasing quarterback Jake Browning. The move follows his time with the team after signing in March as a free agent. Browning previously spent three seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals, where he appeared in 17 games and made 10 starts. Reports indicate that undrafted rookie Jalon Daniels has secured the backup quarterback position behind Baker Mayfield. The Bengals are scheduled to face the Buccaneers at Paycor Stadium for their regular-season opener. Browning, who previously experienced a benching in favor of Joe Flacco during the 2025 season, now enters free agency.
