Tampa Bay Rays select Seminoles pitcher Cole Stokes in 12th round

The Tampa Bay Rays have selected Cole Stokes, a right-handed pitcher from Florida State University, in the 12th round of the 2026 Major League Draft. Standing at 6-foot-6 and weighing 229 pounds, Stokes posted a 5.60 ERA with 25 strikeouts over 17.2 innings this season. His performance included a key contribution in a combined no-hitter against Bethune-Cookman and a career-high four strikeouts in a game versus Florida. Stokes is the third Florida State pitcher drafted this year, following Trey Beard and Bryson Moore, and marks the first Rays selection of a Seminoles player in over a decade. He joins a Tampa Bay team currently leading the AL East with a 56-37 record.
