Tanner Houck begins rehab assignment with Double-A Portland Sea Dogs

Boston Red Sox pitcher Tanner Houck made his first rehab appearance Tuesday night with the Double-A Portland Sea Dogs. The 30-year-old right-hander entered in the fifth inning during a tie game against the Binghamton Rumble Ponies. Across two-thirds of an inning, Houck threw 20 pitches and allowed one earned run while issuing two walks. He has been sidelined since May 2025 following Tommy John surgery performed in August of that year. The Red Sox intend for him to return to Portland this Friday to throw approximately 40 pitches. He is slated to move to Triple-A Worcester next week as part of his ongoing recovery plan.
