Tarik Skubal leads the 2026-27 MLB free agent class

Tarik Skubal, Jazz Chisholm Jr., and Adrian Morejon headline the upcoming MLB free agency class, according to preseason projections. Skubal remains the top-ranked starter after a season with the Dodgers, while Chisholm provides middle-infield depth and Morejon offers potential for a transition to a starting rotation. The upcoming market is considered among the weakest in recent memory, leaving teams with few options for immediate franchise cornerstones. Uncertainty regarding future collective bargaining agreements and a potential lockout beginning December 2 cast a shadow over team activity. Organizations may choose to act quickly in November or remain inactive until the labor situation is resolved. The postseason is scheduled to begin in four weeks, marking the final stretch of the current campaign before these players enter the open market.
