Tavion Banks announces farewell to Iowa basketball program

Tavion Banks shared a farewell message to Iowa men's basketball on Instagram on August 2. Banks, who declared for the 2026 NBA Draft, will not return to Iowa despite a court ruling allowing an extra year of eligibility for the 2022 class. During his time at Iowa, Banks served as a key player, starting in 35 of 37 games last season, leading in rebounds and ranked second in scoring. His notable performances included a 26-point game against Indiana and a memorable 20-point effort in an upset over Florida in the NCAA Tournament. Banks transferred to Iowa from Drake, where he achieved recognition as the 2024-25 Missouri Valley Conference Sixth Man of the Year.
