Taylor forfeits football game against Crescent City due to roster shortage

Taylor will forfeit its varsity football game against Crescent City scheduled for September 11. Athletic director Gavin Mueller confirmed the decision, marking the first time the annual matchup will not take place since 1969. The Wildcats were forced to cancel the game due to an insufficient number of healthy players, which follows a string of consecutive forfeits. The team previously faced Umatilla with 13 active players and finished its most recent game against West Oaks Academy with only 10. This year's cancellation ends an annual series between the two programs that began in 1959. Taylor, currently competing as an independent member of the FHSAA, is scheduled to return to play on October 2 against Keswick Christian.
