Taylor Fritz, Madison Keys and Amanda Anisimova exit US Open in third round

The American singles field at the US Open thinned out Saturday as Taylor Fritz, Madison Keys, and Amanda Anisimova all fell in their respective third-round matches. Fritz, the ninth seed, held a two-set lead against Francisco Cerundolo before the Argentinian mounted a comeback to win 3-6, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, 6-4. Madison Keys also surrendered a significant advantage in her match against Qinwen Zheng, who rallied to win 1-6, 7-6(3), 7-5 after the American failed to convert a match point in the third set. Meanwhile, Amanda Anisimova struggled with 46 unforced errors during a 6-2, 7-5 loss to Anastasia Potapova. Elsewhere, Alexander Blockx ended the tournament for fifth-seeded Flavio Cobolli in four sets. The US Open remains the site of a continued title drought for American men, who have not won a singles title at the tournament since 2003.
