Taylor Townsend secured a fourth-round berth at the U.S. Open on Friday with a 6-2, 7-6(3), 6-3 victory over Diana Shnaider. The win preserves the 30-year-old's ranking points from her deep run at the tournament last year and sets up a match against Aryna Sabalenka. Other American players also advanced to the second week, including Jessica Pegula, who recovered from a first-set loss to beat Leylah Fernandez 1-6, 6-4, 6-3. Emma Navarro defeated Karolína Muchová 6-3, 7-5, while Frances Tiafoe and Alex Michelsen both claimed straight-set victories. Tommy Paul navigated a five-set match against Alexander Bublik to secure his place in the next round, as American representation remained strong across the tournament brackets.
