Team USA fans criticize Caitlin Clark role during FIBA World Cup play

Summary

Team USA maintained an undefeated record in Group D of the 2026 FIBA World Cup after a 105-64 victory over Czechia on September 7. Following the match, social media commentary surfaced claiming that Caitlin Clark is not receiving sufficient ball distribution from teammates during tournament play. Fans pointed to specific sequences involving Breanna Stewart and Paige Bueckers where they felt the Indiana Fever guard was excluded from offensive possessions. Despite the criticism, Clark recorded seven assists and nine points during the contest. This follows her single-point performance during a narrow win over Italy in the previous round. Team USA now moves forward to face the winner of the Japan versus Hungary match in the quarterfinals.
