Teddy Bridgewater has announced his retirement from the Detroit Lions, as confirmed by head coach Dan Campbell on August 9. Bridgewater, who backed up Jared Goff last season, has stepped away from football after a career marked by both highs and challenges. The Lions are now left with only Goff and rookie Luke Altmyer on their roster, prompting the team to look for a veteran quarterback to compete for the backup role. Campbell indicated a new player could be signed as early as August 10, ahead of their preseason opener against the Cincinnati Bengals.
