Teenager Zachary Houghton prepares for Formula Ford Festival debut

Zachary Houghton, a 17-year-old racing driver from Redhill, completed his first Formula Ford race at the end of August. Having transitioned from simulator racing to circuit driving, he is now setting his sights on competing in the upcoming Formula Ford Festival at Brands Hatch. Houghton manages type 1 diabetes, a condition he has lived with since he was 12 years old. His father, Scott Houghton, noted that the family included the logo of the East Surrey Hospital charity on the car during his recent track debut. The younger Houghton intends to serve as an advocate for others living with the condition by demonstrating that it does not prevent involvement in motorsport. While he faces the financial demands of the sport, he remains focused on securing the necessary funding to continue his competitive career in grassroots racing.
