Tennessee football adds commitment from 2027 running back Asa Barnes

Tennessee football secured a commitment from three-star running back Asa Barnes on July 30, 2026. Barnes, who chose the Vols over Arkansas, Florida State, and USC, is ranked No. 22 in Tennessee and No. 36 among running backs nationally, according to 247Sports Composite. He becomes the 19th commitment in Tennessee's 2027 recruiting class, which currently ranks 21st in the nation. Under head coach Josh Heupel, who has a 45-20 record, the Vols aim to rebound after an 8-5 season in 2025. Tennessee will start its 2026 campaign at home against Furman.
