Tennessee quarterback Faizon Brandon earns SEC Freshman of the Week honors

Tennessee quarterback Faizon Brandon received SEC Freshman of the Week honors following his collegiate debut against Furman. The freshman completed 13-of-17 pass attempts for 226 yards and three touchdowns in the 56-9 victory. Brandon also contributed on the ground, recording 68 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 10 carries. This recognition marks the 12th time a Tennessee player has earned the conference's weekly freshman award since head coach Josh Heupel took over in 2021. The performance contributed to a total of 52 SEC weekly honors earned by the program under the current coaching staff. Brandon's debut is part of a wider slate of Week 1 conference awards including selections for players from LSU, Ole Miss, Auburn, and Oklahoma.
