Texans acquire Nathan Thomas from Cowboys and trade Jarrett Patterson to 49ers

The Houston Texans executed two trades on August 30 to adjust their offensive line roster. The team acquired offensive tackle Nathan Thomas from the Dallas Cowboys in exchange for a 2027 seventh-round draft pick. Simultaneously, the Texans traded interior offensive lineman Jarrett Patterson to the San Francisco 49ers. Thomas joins the Houston roster as depth while Braden Smith recovers from a partially torn plantar fascia. Patterson, a 2023 sixth-round pick, moves to the 49ers after starting 21 games during his tenure in Houston. The Texans have reshaped their offensive line this offseason, favoring the addition of tackle depth while moving toward a projected starting unit of Trent Brown, Ed Ingram, Keylan Rutledge, and Aireontae Ersery.
