Texas A&M hires Leroy Burrell as head coach for track & field

Texas A&M announced the hiring of Leroy Burrell as head coach for its track & field program on June 29, 2026. Burrell joins the Aggies after four successful seasons at Auburn, where he led the team to four top-five finishes and numerous individual national titles. Athletic director Trev Alberts highlighted Burrell’s championship credentials and experience developing elite athletes. Before Auburn, Burrell spent 23 seasons at Houston, amassing 44 conference titles. His appointment aims to continue building on Texas A&M's track tradition.
