Texas defeats Texas State 59-7 in season opener

Texas State fell to Texas 59-7 on Saturday at Darrell K Royal–Texas Memorial Stadium. The Longhorns accumulated 516 yards of total offense, with quarterback Manning throwing for 305 yards and four touchdowns. Texas State struggled with mental errors and kicking issues, as kicker Dylan Cunanan missed two field goal attempts. Quarterback Brad Jackson led the Bobcats with 150 passing yards and also fumbled once with one interception. Davian Jackson scored the team's lone touchdown on the day. Head coach GJ Kinne cited a lack of defensive discipline and missed opportunities as primary concerns following the loss. Texas State now prepares to face UTSA in their next matchup.
