Texas football secures commitment from elite in-state running back

Texas football continues to build its 2027 recruiting class, securing a commitment from five-star running back Landen Williams-Callis on August 1. The 5-foot-7.5, 190-pounder from Randle, TX, chose Texas over Missouri, SMU, and Texas A&M. Williams-Callis is the last top 100 prospect uncommitted in the 2027 class, ranked as the No. 37 overall prospect by 247Sports and No. 27 in the USA TODAY Sports composite rankings. He has an impressive high school career, averaging 218.9 rushing yards per game with 3,502 yards and 59 touchdowns in 2025 alone, nearing the 10,000-yard milestone. Texas now holds three five-star commitments, including offensive tackle Ismael Camara and wide receiver Easton Royal, further solidifying its in-state recruiting strategy under head coach Steve Sarkisian.
