Texas Longhorns face championship expectations for upcoming season

Summary

The Texas Longhorns enter the 2026 college football season with high expectations, deemed to have one of their most talented rosters in years. Despite the pressure for a championship, sources indicate that a successful season does not necessarily hinge on winning a national title. Coach Steve Sarkisian has made progress in recent years, having led the team to ten wins in 2025, but there are concerns about the team's ability to win critical games against rivals like Ohio State. Projections suggest a potential 10-2 record for this season. If Texas fails to make the College Football Playoff again, it will not prompt a significant overhaul of the program.
