Texas State head coach GJ Kinne prepares for Texas matchup

Summary

Texas State football coach GJ Kinne returns to Austin this Saturday as his team prepares to face the No. 5 Texas Longhorns at Royal-Memorial Stadium. Kinne, who spent one season as a walk-on at Texas in 2007, aims to use the high-level competition to gauge his roster's development. Despite Texas State entering the game as a heavy underdog, Kinne emphasized his intent to compete rather than simply enjoy the atmosphere. The Bobcats are currently working through unsettled position battles at running back and wide receiver, with plans to rotate multiple players on defense. Kinne intends to evaluate how his squad performs against a nationally ranked opponent before shifting focus to a rivalry game against UTSA in Week 2.
