The Texas Longhorns volleyball team fell from second to ninth in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association poll released August 31. The shift follows a 2-2 start to the season for the team, which included an opening loss to Arizona State and a sweep by Nebraska on August 30. During a win against TCU, the program also lost starting outside hitter Abby Vander Wal to a season-ending knee injury. Head coach Jerritt Elliott must now adjust team schematics without the outside hitter for the remainder of the schedule. Texas aims to rebound in its home opener at Gregory Gymnasium against No. 15 USC this Wednesday.
