The Boston Celtics selected Ed Kazakavich in the 1959 NBA Draft

The Boston Celtics have historically utilized the NBA draft to build their rosters, pulling talent from diverse collegiate programs. Among the schools that have produced prospects for the franchise is the University of Scranton. Ed Kazakavich represents the only player from the University of Scranton drafted by the organization. He was selected by the Celtics in the fourth round of the 1959 NBA Draft as the 32nd overall pick. Despite being drafted by the team, Kazakavich did not ultimately make the final roster or play any seasons for Boston. This selection is a notable historical entry in the team's draft history, which includes a wide range of talent from both prominent universities and smaller institutions.
