The Indianapolis Colts name Anthony Richardson to initial 53-man roster

The Indianapolis Colts have named Anthony Richardson to the team's initial 53-man roster following the conclusion of training camp. Although Richardson submitted a trade request in February, the organization elected to keep the quarterback as his trade market failed to materialize. Assistant general manager Ed Dodds noted the team's priority to maintain three capable quarterbacks on the active roster. Richardson finished his preseason play by completing 21 of 33 passes for 250 yards with one interception, alongside 69 rushing yards. Despite early questions regarding his future in Indianapolis, his performance over the final month of camp solidified his position with the club. Richardson may now compete for the backup quarterback role as the team prepares for the upcoming season.
