Theophile Nael wins the first FIA Formula 3 sprint race in Madrid

Campos Racing driver Theophile Nael secured victory in the FIA Formula 3 Sprint Race at the Madring circuit on September 12, 2026. Nael started from second on the grid and overtook polesitter James Wharton on the opening lap to seize the lead. Although PREMA Racing’s Alex Powell challenged for position early, Nael maintained his advantage and set a series of fastest laps to finish the race in first place. Wharton finished in second, marking his second podium of the year, while Powell claimed third in his second weekend of competition. The result allowed Ugo Ugochukwu to gain three points in the championship standings, closing the gap to leader Freddie Slater to 12 points. Both drivers are scheduled to compete in the first Feature Race later on Saturday.
