Thierry Henry compares Barcelona midfielder Rodri to Sergio Busquets

Thierry Henry has identified Rodri as the long-term successor to Sergio Busquets following the midfielder's move to Barcelona this summer. Speaking on CBS Sports, the former Barcelona forward noted that Rodri provides the team with a similar level of tactical control and positional awareness. While acknowledging Busquets as a pure technician who relied on subtle timing, Henry suggested that Rodri offers a more complete profile due to his added physical power and ball-carrying ability. Barcelona spent several seasons attempting to fill the void left by Busquets’ departure, struggling to find a player capable of dictating play with the same composure. Under the management of Hansi Flick, the club views the arrival of Rodri as a key shift for the midfield, providing both defensive stability and a more consistent contribution in the final third.
