Three Auburn players earn All-SEC honors ahead of college football season

Three players from Auburn were named to the Preseason All-SEC team during SEC Media Days in Tampa, Florida. Linebacker Xavier Atkins was selected for the first team, while safety Champ Anthony and kicker Alex McPherson received third-team honors. Atkins, who had a breakout 2025 season with a conference-leading 17 tackles for loss, is expected to be a leader on defense. Anthony and McPherson are hoping for strong comeback seasons after facing injuries. Byrum Brown, the new quarterback following his transfer from USF, did not make the list despite his strong potential.
