Tigers adjusted pitching rotation before Royals series opener

The Detroit Tigers, facing a challenging stretch after losing five of their last six games, announced changes to their pitching rotation ahead of a crucial series against the Kansas City Royals starting Friday evening. Keider Montero's next start has been postponed to allow for extra rest, while Framber Valdez's scheduled start on Sunday has also been moved, with that game set to be a bullpen game for the Tigers. Montero holds a 9-8 record with a 3.30 ERA this season, and Valdez has an 8-8 record with a 4.35 ERA. The Tigers currently sit in fourth place in the AL Central, five games behind the division leader and 1.5 games back of the Wild Card spot.
