Tigers await final decisions on pitching returns amid rehab updates

Summary

Detroit Tigers manager AJ Hinch remains cautious about finalizing pitching plans, waiting for further evaluations on Tarik Skubal, Casey Mize, and Justin Verlander. Skubal aims to return against the Guardians on Saturday after a positive bullpen session. Mize pitched five innings in a Low-A game and plans to throw a bullpen on Thursday, possibly returning by Sunday. Verlander is expected to make a second rehab start for the Triple-A Toledo Mud Hens, with hopes of activating him for next week's series against Houston. Javier Báez continues to recover from a high ankle sprain, facing an uncertain timeline for his return.
